work project · Jul – Aug 2024Cabinet Order CV Redecor
A production web app for kitchen and cabinet makers that tracks a project down to room, cabinet, part and door, showing every stage from order to assembly on one screen.
Production tracking stuck on the desktop
Fsd Cabinet Order ran on the factory floor as a WinForms app. It could not be reached from outside the factory, by the assembly crew in the field, or by a customer abroad; project status was chased by phone and kept in Excel across accounting, purchasing and production.
before
- Reachable only from factory PCs
- Status asked by phone, kept in Excel
- Design-software changes entered by hand
- Single language
after
- Any browser, anywhere
- A ten-step status flow on everyone's screen
- CSV import, changes matched by part ID
- Turkish, English and French UI
From data model to UI, end to end
I moved the application to the web: data model, service layer, production line board, CSV import, stacking sheets and role permissions. It shares its database with the desktop version, so I also made the two sides work together.
Line board
Which part sits at which station on the body (cutting, edge banding, drilling) and door (CNC, sanding, press) lines.
Project tree
Room → cabinet → part → door, with dimensions and barcodes at every level.
CSV import
Validates a project coming from the design software and imports it, pointing at faulty rows.
Stacking sheets
Printouts for body, door and accessories that go to production.
Project summary
Bulk and retail project types; summary with discount and VAT.
Users and roles
Role-based permissions, password reset, filtering, search and paging.

The hard part: when the same part arrives twice
Projects arrive as CSV from external design software. When a customer changed the design and sent it again, a part already in production had to be updated without losing it. I matched on the CV Part ID the design software provides: a part with the same ID is updated, a new one is added. The line board is fed by barcode scans at each station.
